Express future plans and predictions.
The future is formed by adding سـ (sa-) or سوف (sawfa) before a present verb.
Both mean the same; سوف emphasises a more distant future.
| Arabic | English | Example |
|---|---|---|
| غداً | Tomorrow | سأسافر غداً. |
| سأذهب | I will go | سأذهب إلى العمل. |
| سوف | Will (future) | سوف أدرس العربية. |
| السنة القادمة | Next year | السنة القادمة سأتخرج. |
| الخطة | Plan | ما هي الخطة؟ |
| قريباً | Soon | أراك قريباً. |
| Word | Phonetic | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| سأسافر | sa-u-SA-fir | The "sa-" prefix marks future |
| سوف | SAW-fa | A separate future particle |
| غداً | gha-dan | Means "tomorrow" |
سـ vs سوف: سـ attaches to the verb (سأذهب), while سوف is a separate word (سوف أذهب). Both create the future tense.
